The CSIO Hamina Bastioni Horse Festival takes place in 26th-28th June in the historic surroundings of the Hamina Bastioni fortress. Riders from six countries; Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Ireland, Great Britain, Finland, are taking part in both show jumping and dressage.
Peik Andersin and Latania Z was part of the victorious Finnish Nations Cup -team in Haminassa 2005.
The Danish sisters, Tina and Charlotte Lund and their team mate Linnea Ericsson, and Helen Persson from Sweden are the strong ladies in the Scandinavian Nations Cup Teams. The home country has five riders in the team now; Raimo Aaltonen, Peik Andersin, Sanna Backlund, Jenny Kainulainen ja Satu Liukkonen. The Swedish trainer Lars Parmler is the new Chef d´Equipe of the Finnish Team.
The Finns are competing against Denmark, Sweden and Norway in the FEI Nations Cup of Finland on Sunday afternoon. The exciting Hamina Grand Prix is on Saturday. In dressage Nordic and Baltic Championships medals will be decided for teams in Grand Prix on Saturday and individuals in Grand Prix Kür on Sunday.
The competition for the Nordic medals will be hard. The Danish Jim Rasmussen won both the Grand Prix and the Kür in Vestfold in the spring. Michael Sogaard was part of the Danish Team in the European Championship in 2003.
Charlotte Haid Bondergaard from Sweden won a bronze medal in the Nordic Championship in Aarhus last year. Both Nina Bengtsson and Magdalena Skatt did well in Helsinki International Horse Show last October. Ellen Birgitte Farbrot and Gunn Skovholt had success in Oslo Horse Show last autumn.
The Finnish Dressage Team has high hopes for medals in the Scandinavian Championships. Julia Alfthan and Chirocco won both the Grand Prix the Kür in Helsinki Horse Show last October. The olympic rider Maarit Raiskio has her talented Znak in good form, and Alexandra Malmström rides a experienced Grand Prix horse Mr Bean. The couple won the Kür in Ypäjä in March. Timo Rokkanen has a new ride, Luitbold.
The international O-level judge, Wim Ernes comes from Holland.
Entertainment for the whole family
The picturesque city of Hamina and it´s unique Bastion gathers a spectacular group of horse lovers. The Bastioni Horse Festival offers entertainment for the whole family.
Impressive Festival Entertainment program offers excitement, tradition and humour between the tough competition. On Saturday night the Bastioni After Ride Music Party will rock the little town. Horse Festival Expo and the restaurants will offer something for the whole family.
More than 100 horses compete in Hamina in next week. Over 10 000 spectators are expected to visit the Festival during the exciting weekend.
