Swedens Peder Fredricson started first with Holliday KLG, and knew he could not aim for only a clear round.

- There was no point to go for a clear. I knew I had to go fast. But the plan did not include two fences down, Fredricson said.

Fredricson had eight faults from the last fence, a double combination.

Henk van de Pol and Kirfa de Kreisker, who were one of  the two double clears in the normal rounds, went around fluently and clear in the jump off, and secured the victory for Holland.

- I am very happy with the horse and the win. I hoped that Peder had pressure knowing I was after him, because he knew I can be fast, van de Pol said.

Holland did not get any points from the Promotional League win but the team was still happy to take part.

- It is very good experience for our young horses and a good way to bring up new riders to Nations Cups, explained Piet Raymakers Jr.

He was also happy with his result with the 9 years old Van Schijndels´s Valentino. The couple had only one fence down in the second round.

Frans Wijlaars was riding in the Nations Cup team for the first time, and straight away won. He had 13 faults in the first round with Udo, and was the one that did not start in the second round.

- It is super to win. I had some mistakes but I was in a super team.

Jur Vrieling was last in with Sissi van´t Schuttershof in the second round. He could only have a maximum of four faults for Holland win. He did have a fence down but also one time fault, and there had to be a jump off.

- The show is so nicely organized, the facilities are good, and it is so nice to ride here soIt I thought we should have a jump off, Vrieling joked.

Finland´s Jessica Timgren and Zandra Z in the Nations Cup.

Sweden had to settle for a second place but it was enough to put them in the first place in the League.

- It was quite a tough competition. The course looked easier than the Grand Prix on Saturday when we walked it but it proved to be difficult, said Hans Horn, the Chef d´Equipe of the Swedish team.

The Iranian course designer Hossein Shafiee did an excellent job on each day on the long and narrow arena.

- It was difficult to have 12 fences including some 160 fences and the water into the arena that is like indoors.

Italy was third with a total of 17 faults, and dropped second in the League. Denmark was fourth with 40 faults, Norway fifth and the Finnish team, Ville Kulkas / Victory-M, Joonas Vaahtera / Cincinnati, Raimo Aaltonen / Eafons Polyfino and Jessica Timgren / Zandra Z, sixth.

There were around 12 500 visitors in Hamina Bastioni during the three days of competition. The next Hamina Bastioni Horse Festival is in 2013.
